To the workers of BNP Paribas,
After being informed of this year's CRP figures, Sindicato dos Trabalhadores da Atividade Financeira (Union of Financial Workers) cannot help but regret BNP Paribas' decision to continue to ignore the needs of the workers. When record profits (for the second consecutive year) of 10.196 million euros are announced, there is no justification for salary increases to remain below inflation, there is no justification for bonuses to be similar to those of previous years, there is no justification for the workers’ dedication not to be rewarded fairly.We are living in a context that has led to an increase in prices, profits and a consequent reduction in the purchasing power of those who work - in other words, wage cuts. This is a reality that BNP Paribas has already shown itself to be aware of, however, and despite being able to mitigate it, they choose to maintain this burden on the workers.
If profits increase, it is because we produce more, so why are our wages cut, when we lack the means to achieve a balanced and dignified life?
SinTAF condemns the arbitrariness with which raises and bonuses are awarded, lacking coherence and respect for the workers’ seniority. SinTAF also denounces the lack of transparency in the allocation criteria, as well as the secrecy that surrounds the entire process.
We believe that this situation justifies holding a Workers' Plenary and we will make the necessary efforts to organize it soon. For this reason, we call for your participation in it.
